The first installment in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, which has shipped over 30 million copies worldwide, has been adapted into a live action work that remains almost faithful to the original. Produced by the cast and staff of the hugely popular franchise Unification of Japan, which depicts the Japanese underworld, the adaptation is fully supervised by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The story follows the events leading up to the video game Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.

Kamurocho is a city where desire and violence swirl. For the sake of his best friend and the woman he loves, a man bore the stigma of having killed his patriarch.. However, what awaits him are members of his former organization who hold a grudge against him, and a dangerous trap. A series of mysterious incidents drive this lonely man even further into a corner.

A girl, Haruka, suddenly appears in front of Kiryu. She was visiting Kamurocho to search for her mother, Mizuki. Then, important information that gets to the heart of the incident comes from Haruka's mouth as she thinks about her mother. In pursuit of Yumi's whereabouts, Kiryu visits The Florist of Sai, a legendary informant who holds all kinds of information about Kamurocho. A fierce battle with Majima, pressure from within the police force, and Nishikiyama's ambitions after meeting again for the first time in 10 years. Kiryu gets caught up in the maelstrom of further conspiracies.

Kiryu, who approaches the truth of the incident, is reunited with Kazama with the help of Terada, a member of the fifth generation Omi Alliance. What is talked about there is Kazama's beliefs, the truth behind Yumi's disappearance, a conspiracy involving 10 billion yen, and the existence of a mastermind lurking behind it. Then, the situation suddenly develops in an unexpected direction. A desperate battle with the Shimano Family, which suddenly attacks, and a farewell. Kiryu and Haruka return to Kamurocho again.
