Biography
Kai Wiesinger (born April 16, 1966, in Hanover) is a German actor, director, screenwriter, and voice actor for dubbing and audio dramas. He rose to fame in 1992 with the comedy film *Kleine Haie*. Wiesinger made his television debut in the late 1980s on the ZDF program *Aktenzeichen XY … ungelöst*. He achieved his breakthrough in 1992 with the lead role in *Kleine Haie*, for which he—alongside Jürgen Vogel and Gedeon Burkhard—received the Bavarian Film Award. In the years that followed, Wiesinger starred in numerous successful German films, including *Der bewegte Mann*, *Frauen sind was Wunderbares*, and *Stadtgespräch*. He also appeared regularly in historical and dramatic productions, such as *Comedian Harmonists*, *14 Tage lebenslänglich*, and *Nichts als die Wahrheit*, starring alongside Götz George. Wiesinger also took on numerous lead roles in television productions, including *Dresden*, *Die Gustloff*, and the series *Die Anwälte*. In 2014, he portrayed former Federal President Christian Wulff in the TV movie *Der Rücktritt*, for which he received the Bavarian Television Award. Since 2015, he has starred—alongside his partner, Bettina Zimmermann—in the self-developed web series *Der Lack ist ab*, which he also directed. Since 2022, he has also been seen in the title role of the crime series *Dr. Hoffmann*. In addition to his work in front of the camera, Kai Wiesinger is active as a voice actor for dubbing and audio dramas. Among other roles, he voiced a character in the animated film *Das große Krabbeln* (the German dub of *A Bug's Life*) and appeared alongside his then-wife, Chantal de Freitas, in the audio drama series *Bibi Blocksberg*.
